Description:

Watch with styles from "Santos de Cartier). About 120 years ago, such a watch was one of the first truly unisex watches.

In 1904, the renowned Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont encountered an issue. He needed a way to tell the time during flights without taking his hands off the controls. He turned to his friend, the Parisian jeweller Louis Cartier, for help. Cartier came up with the idea of a wristwatch specially designed for aviators. While most men at the time used pocket watches, Louis Cartier designed an elegant, square timepiece that could be worn on the wrist. It was both elegant and practical. This watch became known as the Santos, named after the pilot who inspired its creation. One of the world's first men's wristwatches, it marked the beginning of a new era in watchmaking. Over the years, the Santos de Cartier has evolved, but its bold design, visible screws, and refined style have made it a timeless icon.

I have built a similar watch here, which is black and red. Sorry for the few and quickly made photos, but the beautiful watch has found a new owner before I could take better photos.
